Afonso Matias Pereira was born in the Algarve and grew up with a passion for football. Around the age of 14, magic unexpectedly entered his life. Even today, he is not entirely sure how it all began. What he does remember is the curiosity of learning a few tricks to entertain family and friends.

During secondary school, Afonso changed schools. He only knew one person there. Shy and reserved, he struggled to fit in. Until one day, that friend casually mentioned that Afonso loved performing magic and often used it to amaze his football teammates. Soon, during school breaks, he began showing a few tricks. Before long, he was no longer just Afonso, he had become “The Magician.”

The real turning point came when he watched Luís de Matos perform live. In that moment, he realised that the stage was where he belonged. What started as a simple hobby quickly became a life ambition. First came children’s parties and holiday camps. Then hotels, restaurants, and bars. Later, weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events.

Then came the pandemic. The world, as everyone knew it, suddenly stopped. But online, Afonso discovered a new way to share his passion. He started creating content, performing magic for digital audiences, and achieving results he had never imagined possible. To support his dream, he launched his own business, and fortunately, the hard work began to pay off.

Today, what once started as a part-time passion has become a full-time career. Afonso now lives from magic. And he continues to believe that every performance is an opportunity to transform an ordinary moment into something truly unforgettable.
